Registrations are now open for the 2016 Blended Learning in Labs and Lessons Symposium to be held at University of Sydney on Thursday, 8 December 2016.
This free symposium will provide a day of insight into and engagement with innovations in blended teaching approaches useful for laboratories, case studies, PBLs and large lectures across the sciences, veterinary science, nursing and medical science disciplines. A select group of academics from around Australasia will share their development and use of blended learning resources that enhance student engagement and learning.
Professor Adam Bridgeman, Director of Educational Innovation at the University of Sydney and an Australian National Teaching Fellow, will discuss active and personalised learning in the blended classroom. Abelardo Pardo, Associate Professor of Software for Educational Environments in the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technologies at the University of Sydney, will provide an overview of how data can be used to provide personalised support actions to students and discuss the required connections between data, instructor expertise and the underlying instructional design.
For those not familiar with online or cloud based platforms for laboratory use, there will be a brief introduction before the symposium (9:30 am-10:00 am) to two of ADInstruments platforms, LabTutor and their newest cloud based platform, Lt. There will also be time during the symposium for a hands-on experience using Lt.
Anyone interested in learning more about how to energize their labs and lectures or wants to know more about how to assess the impact of their teaching innovations should find this symposium of interest.
