In the Bachelor of Design Computing degree, we have experienced significant teaching challenges in the last 6 years, with a rapidly growing student cohort and relatively small staff team. Coordinating units of up to 430 students and managing teams of 14+ (often first-time teaching) staff members has led me utilise a ‘two-sided model’ – for managing both staff and students at the same time – employing strategies such as educating teachers while educating students with a formal resource sharing protocol, making a ‘champion of the week’ for content development, creating exemplar decks for both staff and students, and using Slack as a hive mind. My presentation will offer practice-based, boots-on-ground suggestions to juggling the needs of teachers and the needs of students simultaneously.
