Throughout 2021-2022, disciplines across campus have been responding to the need for meaningful face-to-face learning by taking their class to the Chau Chak Wing Museum for a curated Object-Based Learning (OBL) workshop. With an impressive track record of implementation across disciplines as diverse as Business, Science, Medicine, Arts and Architecture, students are consistently excited to connect with the fascinating museum collections and with each other. As a pedagogy, OBL is valuable for developing transferrable life-skills, including observation, critical analysis and communication, and it is an especially impactful collaborative learning tool, helping to highlight and activate multiple perspectives. We will present examples of effective OBL in units of study and show how these examples can be adapted for wider practice across different faculties.
