Teaching the COVID generation requires targeted and thoughtful methods of student support. The challenge (and opportunity) presented by COVID has led to innovative and flexible ways of delivering teaching, which appear likely to continue into the future. The range of teaching options, including flipped classrooms, online teaching, asynchronous activities, HyFlex and face-to-face classes are an opportunity to meet diverse student learning needs as well as find the best match between content and delivery. However students need support to navigate their learning in this new environment, especially when last-minute changes are still common. This presentation will showcase methods for supporting students and their learning that have been well-received by students. Examples will include building student-teacher relationships (including experimenting with SRES), scaffolding learning activities through Canvas modules, building a learning community through interactive on-line activities, communication with students, asynchronous modules made available prior to Week 1, and creating applied, practical learning activities on-line.
