DIY Recording Booth Face to Face Orientation Session
The DIY Recording Booth is a well-equipped, sound-proof space, purpose built for users who would like to record and edit their own educational media. It is a free resource available to all University of Sydney staff, however academic and professional staff preparing teaching videos are given priority.
The DIY booth operates under a 'do-it-yourself' model which empowers staff to make their own media resources.
Participants can use the facilities of the DIY booth to do 'talking head' lectures, screencasts, podcasts and two-person interviews.
To gain access to the DIY booth you must complete either a face-to-face orientation session in the booth, or a self-paced online module in Canvas.
The face-to-face orientation is a 1.5-hour interactive workshop aimed at introducing you to recording, editing and publishing videos in this purpose-built space.
In this session, we will cover:
- Introduction to the space, including the video and podcasting stations and the different hardware elements of the booth such as lights and camera.
- How to conduct different kinds of recordings including talking head, video with presentation or audio only.
- Basic editing using Camtasia
- Rules and procedures for reserving the DIY booth
Space is limited to three participants per session and there will be opportunities for discussion and practice. Once you have completed the session you will receive staff swipe card access to the booth.
