{"id":3970,"date":"2017-04-06T22:49:25","date_gmt":"2017-04-06T12:49:25","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/sydney.edu.au\/education-portfolio\/ei\/teaching@sydney\/?p=3970"},"modified":"2017-04-06T22:49:25","modified_gmt":"2017-04-06T12:49:25","slug":"heilbronn-learning-factory","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/educational-innovation.sydney.edu.au\/teaching@sydney\/heilbronn-learning-factory\/","title":{"rendered":"The Heilbronn Learning Factory"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Online registration is now open for University of Sydney staff to attend Professor Rolf Blumentritt\u2019s presentation on his project, <i>The Heilbronn Learning Factory<\/i>, and discuss its outcomes and effectiveness.<\/p>\n<p>Prof Blumentritt is from Heilbronn University of Applied Science in Germany and holds a Chair in the area of quality and process management and is responsible for an undergraduate Bachelor of Production and Process Management and a Masters of Technical Management degree.<\/p>\n<p>The <em>Learning Factory<\/em> takes place every semester. A group of 20 to 35 students split up in to specialist teams to jointly tackle a unique project assignment. Practical skills are developed in a combined workshop and classroom environment. The objective is to develop a product idea in to a production ready process.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The learning goals and features of the Learning Factory are:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Learning environment is comparable to a real-world manufacturing company<\/li>\n<li>Main goal of the Heilbronn Learning Factory is to foster practical skills, social skills, responsibility and autonomy<\/li>\n<li>Five\u00a0graded exams (team, company, and individual performance)<\/li>\n<li>Working products are available at closing event<\/li>\n<li>Supervision and assessing in an interdisciplinary way, typically carried out by 5 to 7 professors.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Event details<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>When:<\/strong> Monday April 24 2017<\/li>\n<li><strong>Where:<\/strong> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cs.usyd.edu.au\/about\/directions.shtml\" target=\"_blank\">School of Information Technologies<\/a>, Level 5 &#8211; The Dean&#8217;s Function Room, The University of Sydney<\/li>\n<li><strong>Time:<\/strong> 1:00 \u2013 2:00 pm<\/li>\n<li><strong>Cost:<\/strong> Free. A light lunch will be provided for registered attendees.<\/li>\n<li><strong>RSVP:<\/strong>\u00a0 <a href=\"http:\/\/sydney.edu.au\/engineering\/education-innovation\/index.shtml\">All attendees must register via the EIU website<\/a>.
