Would you like to take part in a fun, free, practical online course this December? Then the 12 Apps of Christmas could be for you.<\/p>\n<p>Last year, over 1000 participants from around the world took part in a new open course hosted by Regent\u2019s University London &#8211; the 12 Apps of Christmas. In just a few minutes a day, they learned about and tried out a range of free mobile apps with potential classroom use, built a community of practice, and had fun doing so. The course was a big success, winning the Credo Digital Information Literacy Award and inspiring people to run versions at their own institutions.<\/p>\n<p>To get an idea of what types of apps will be covered, check out the <a href=\"http:\/\/the12appsofchristmas.zohosites.com\/the-12-apps.html\" target=\"_blank\">2015<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/the12appsofchristmas.wordpress.com\/the-12-apps\/\" target=\"_blank\">2014<\/a> lists. These contained great suggestions such as:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/the12appsofchristmas.wordpress.com\/the-12-apps\/app-no-4-dec-4th\/\" target=\"_blank\">ExplainEverything<\/a> for easily making videos of screencasts and interactive whiteboards on your tablet.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/the12appsofchristmas.wordpress.com\/the-12-apps\/app-no-3-dec-3rd-2\/\" target=\"_blank\">Aurasma<\/a> for creating augmented reality experiences.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/the12appsofchristmas.zohosites.com\/App2.html\" target=\"_blank\">Office Lens<\/a> that turns your mobile into a document scanner and includes optical character recognition to turn scanned documents into searchable text.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/the12appsofchristmas.zohosites.com\/App3.html\" target=\"_blank\">Trello<\/a> to help organise yourself and projects.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/the12appsofchristmas.zohosites.com\/App8.html\" target=\"_blank\">StudyBlue<\/a> that allows you to create your own flashcards.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>From 1 to 16 December 2016, the <a href=\"http:\/\/tinyurl.com\/12AoC16\" target=\"_blank\">12 Apps of Christmas 2016<\/a> will offer a completely new range of carefully selected apps, while keeping to the same simple, entertaining formula which made it so successful last year.
