{"id":2585,"date":"2016-09-25T23:59:41","date_gmt":"2016-09-25T13:59:41","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/sydney.edu.au\/education-portfolio\/ei\/teaching@sydney\/?p=2585"},"modified":"2016-11-03T18:07:41","modified_gmt":"2016-11-03T07:07:41","slug":"2017-strategic-education-grants-now-open","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/educational-innovation.sydney.edu.au\/teaching@sydney\/2017-strategic-education-grants-now-open\/","title":{"rendered":"2017 Strategic Education Grants Now Open"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/sydney.edu.au\/education-portfolio\/ei\/strategic-education-grants\/2017\/\" target=\"_blank\">Strategic Education Grants<\/a> program is\u00a0a competitive scheme to fund educational innovation and targeted curriculum development to deliver enhanced\u00a0student learning outcomes across the University. The program offers funding of up to $12000 and up to $35000 depending on the project size and scope. Since its introduction in 2014, the program has funded a wide variety of <a href=\"https:\/\/intranet.sydney.edu.au\/news\/all\/2016\/09\/21\/funding-offered-for-strategic-education-initiatives.html\" target=\"_blank\">highly successful initiatives<\/a> in <a href=\"https:\/\/sydney.edu.au\/education-portfolio\/ei\/strategic-education-grants\/2015\/\" target=\"_blank\">201<\/a>5\u00a0and <a href=\"https:\/\/sydney.edu.au\/education-portfolio\/ei\/strategic-education-grants\/2014\/educational-innovation-grants\/index.htm\" target=\"_blank\">2014<\/a>\u00a0across the institution in undergraduate, postgraduate and open online courses.<\/p>\n<p>Funding for 2016 was divided between round 2 of 2015 and the mid-2016 scheme. In the latter, the scheme was widened from that available in 2015\u00a0to fund the development of the innovative learning designs in the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/sydney.edu.au\/about-us\/vision-and-values\/strategy.html\">Strategic Plan 2016-20<\/a>, such as the Open Learning Environment for undergraduate and higher degree by research students. Grants totalling $850,000 were awarded to <a href=\"http:\/\/sydney.edu.au\/education-portfolio\/ei\/strategic-education-grants\/2016\/\" target=\"_blank\">33 different projects<\/a> across the University in 2016 with over 100 applications received. This funding is in addition to around $750,000 awarded in the\u00a02015\u00a0round 2 for projects developed in 2016.<\/p>\n<p>The current round covers the <em>whole<\/em> of 2017. To reflect this and to support the strategic priority of delivering a distinctive Sydney education through the transformation of the undergraduate curriculum and of the learning experience, it is hoped that the present scheme will fund a <em>significantly<\/em> larger number of projects.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to the move to a single funding round, the other major changes in this round are the introduction of a new category of funding for project-based units and the opening up of funding to non-faculty groups. Funding is available for\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/sydney.edu.au\/education-portfolio\/ei\/strategic-education-grants\/2017\/\" target=\"_blank\">4\u00a0types of initiatives<\/a>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/sydney.edu.au\/education-portfolio\/ei\/strategic-education-grants\/2017\/educational-innovation-grants\/index.htm\" target=\"_blank\"><u>Educational Innovation (up to $35,000)<\/u><\/a><u><\/u><\/li>\n<li><u><a href=\"https:\/\/sydney.edu.au\/education-portfolio\/ei\/strategic-education-grants\/2017\/open-learning-environment-grants\/index.htm\" target=\"_blank\">Open Learning Environment units (up to $35,000)<\/a><\/u><\/li>\n<li><u><a href=\"https:\/\/sydney.edu.au\/education-portfolio\/ei\/strategic-education-grants\/2017\/sydney-research-seminars-grants\/index.htm\" target=\"_blank\">Sydney Research Seminars (Up to $12,000)<\/a><\/u><\/li>\n<li><u><a href=\"https:\/\/sydney.edu.au\/education-portfolio\/ei\/strategic-education-grants\/2017\/project-based-units\/index.htm\" target=\"_blank\">Project-based units (up to $35,000)<\/a><\/u><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div class=\"page\" title=\"Page 40\">Applications for Strategic Education Grants are assessed by representatives of the faculties and central\u00a0portfolios to ensure that the <em>unprecedented<\/em> investment in education is aligned with the <a href=\"http:\/\/sydney.edu.au\/education-portfolio\/ei\/strategic-education-grants\/2017\/pdf\/Info%20pack%20for%20applicants.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">strategic selection criteria<\/a>.
