At the\u00a0University of Sydney&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/sydney.edu.au\/about-us\/innovation-week.html\" target=\"_blank\">Innovation Week<\/a>, the Education Portfolio are running a &#8216;Student Innovation Challenge&#8217; where we\u2019re challenging our students to come up with a breakthrough idea that would change the future of health as we know it.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"http:\/\/sydney.edu.au\/about-us\/innovation-week\/student-challenge.html\">Innovation Week Student Challenge<\/a> is a competition co-hosted with <a href=\"https:\/\/incubate.org.au\/\">INCUBATE<\/a> to give student-led teams the opportunity to realise a bold vision with the potential to create real impact on the future. Prizes include seed-funding grants of up to $10,000, access to mentoring and support, as well as industry internship placements. The best ideas will be tested at the final pitch event on 26 October in front of industry, government and academic representatives.<\/p>\n<p>We\u2019re looking for solutions that address major health themes that could use some innovation, including:<strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Improving treatment and assistance for people with mental health conditions<\/li>\n<li>delivery of better healthcare at a lower cost and with higher personalisation<\/li>\n<li>the effects the design of products and built environments has on the health<br \/>\nof societies, including consumer products, cities, offices and hospitals<\/li>\n<li>solutions for an ageing population<\/li>\n<li>improved self-management of health, including wearable sensors and other technologies<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The winning idea might also draw upon some of the current megatrends in society and technology that are diving future change, for example:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>artificial intelligence<\/li>\n<li>technology and software reshaping entire industries and labour markets<\/li>\n<li>rapid economic growth in Asia and the developing world<\/li>\n<li>big data and data analytics<\/li>\n<li>consumer and societal expectation for cheaper services, better experiences and social interaction<\/li>\n<li>Sensors and the Internet of Things<\/li>\n<li>online platforms and the sharing economy<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Find more details and register your interest: <a href=\"http:\/\/sydney.edu.au\/about-us\/innovation-week\/student-challenge.html\">Innovation Week Student Challenge<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp; Do you have an idea that will lead Australia into the future of health?
