{"id":2244,"date":"2016-08-31T10:14:44","date_gmt":"2016-08-31T00:14:44","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/sydney.edu.au\/education-portfolio\/ei\/teaching@sydney\/?p=2244"},"modified":"2020-01-31T21:49:37","modified_gmt":"2020-01-31T10:49:37","slug":"flexible-teaching-at-a-distance-with-collaborate","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/educational-innovation.sydney.edu.au\/teaching@sydney\/flexible-teaching-at-a-distance-with-collaborate\/","title":{"rendered":"#edTech Talks: Flexible Teaching at a Distance With Collaborate"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In the next #edTech talks, <a href=\"http:\/\/sydney.edu.au\/health_sciences\/staff\/peter_kench\" target=\"_blank\">Dr Peter Kench<\/a> from the Faculty of Health Sciences and <a href=\"http:\/\/sydney.edu.au\/arts\/writing_hub\/staff\/profiles\/frances.dilauro.php\" target=\"_blank\">Dr\u00a0Frances Di Lauro<\/a> from the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences will talk about their experiences running webinars and synchronous tutorials using <a href=\"http:\/\/sydney.edu.au\/education-portfolio\/ei\/teaching@sydney\/nifty-tools-lms-use-collaborate-kaltura\/\" target=\"_blank\">Blackboard Collaborate<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Peter uses\u00a0webinars to offer off-campus students in the Master of Medical Imaging Science an experience similar to on-campus students. The first webinar is used to introduce the UoS coordinator and discuss the learning and assessment. The next two webinars are offered one or two weeks before major assessments.<\/p>\n<p>Frances will discuss how she uses\u00a0web conferencing in a\u00a0first year unit, <em>Writing and Rhetoric: Argumentation<\/em>, to run\u00a0synchronous tutorials and\u00a0create a bonded cohort of on-campus and off-campus students.
