This week brings students and staff together each year to learn more about the experiences of people who live with disability, and to celebrate diversity. On Friday 9th September, the Digital Accessibility Implementation Plan (DAIP) will be launched with an event from 3-4 pm in ABS Seminar Room 2050.<\/p>\n<p>The DAIP aims to\u00a0make our digital environment more accessible and equitable for people with disabilities. \u00a0Alongside an introduction to the DAIP, the event will feature a series of talks by staff and students on the importance of providing accessible web and digital content. These will include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A introduction to the DAIP and a talk on\u00a0importance of the digital accessibility (with a screen reader demo) by Jason Markou,<\/li>\n<li>A discussion by\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/sydney.edu.au\/science\/people\/emma.carberry.php\" target=\"_blank\">Dr Emma Carberry<\/a> (School of Mathematics and Statistics) on\u00a0her use of various assistive technologies that enable her work and research, and<\/li>\n<li>A talk by\u00a0Wayne Hawkins on\u00a0the importance of digital library access in higher education &#8211; ebooks, online journals and digital content.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Week 7\u00a0is the University\u2019s Disability Inclusion Week.
