For our students, the move to studying remotely for the next few months is certainly a big change, and one that they may find difficult to adapt to.<\/p>\n<p>They are going to have to learn how to use technologies such as Zoom and the etiquette around them. They are going to have to learn with less structure and with increased feelings of isolation. It&#8217;s important that we <a title=\"https:\/\/canvas.sydney.edu.au\/courses\/2797\/pages\/teaching-when-you-are-off-campus-yourself?module_item_id=766542\" href=\"https:\/\/canvas.sydney.edu.au\/courses\/2797\/pages\/teaching-when-you-are-off-campus-yourself?module_item_id=766542\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">try to design what we do<\/a> to reflect this, including regular communication from us and as many opportunities for peer-to-peer interaction as we can think of.<\/p>\n<p>Educational Innovation has created a new student guide to <a href=\"https:\/\/canvas.sydney.edu.au\/courses\/4901\/pages\/learning-while-off-campus\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">learning while off campus<\/a>. The guide walks students through the following topics:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/canvas.sydney.edu.au\/courses\/4901\/pages\/learning-while-off-campus#study\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">How can I keep up to date with my study?<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/canvas.sydney.edu.au\/courses\/4901\/pages\/learning-while-off-campus#classes\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">How should I access classes like lectures and tutorials?<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/canvas.sydney.edu.au\/courses\/4901\/pages\/learning-while-off-campus#stream\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">What should I do in a live-streamed class?<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/canvas.sydney.edu.au\/courses\/4901\/pages\/learning-while-off-campus#teachers\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">How can I communicate with my teachers?<\/a><\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/canvas.sydney.edu.au\/courses\/4901\/pages\/learning-while-off-campus#classmates\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">How can I communicate with my classmates?<\/a><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Key points are that students should ensure that they check their university email and Canvas sites regularly and try to set themselves small incremental daily goals to ensure that they stay motivated and get into a regular study routine.<\/p>\n<p>We have also included a comprehensive guide on <a href=\"https:\/\/canvas.sydney.edu.au\/courses\/4901\/pages\/zoom-tips-for-students\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">using Zoom<\/a>\u00a0which takes students through how to set up for Zoom tutorials and setting up their own sessions with peers.<\/p>\n<p>Please feel free to direct your students to <a href=\"https:\/\/canvas.sydney.edu.au\/courses\/4901\/pages\/learning-while-off-campus\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">this resource<\/a>\u00a0in your communications with them.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We are living in very challenging times.
