These grants support teaching staff to improve student engagement and outcomes, as part of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sydney.edu.au\/about-us\/2032-strategy.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">University\u2019s 2032 Strategy<\/a> and the <a href=\"https:\/\/educational-innovation.sydney.edu.au\/teaching@sydney\/teaching-and-learning-strategy-2023-2025\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Teaching and Learning Strategy 2023\u201325<\/a>. They provide educators with the time and resources to improve students&#8217; learning experiences and develop new assessment approaches.<\/p>\n<p>Please see the intranet for <a href=\"https:\/\/intranet.sydney.edu.au\/teaching-support\/awards-grants\/strategic-education-grants-2023.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">guidance on the grants<\/a>.<\/p>\n<div class=\"sc-separator type-thin\"><\/div>\n<h2>Modular Professional Learning Framework<\/h2>\n<blockquote><p>&#8230; best training ever for me at USyd \u2013 and I have experienced a lot in the last 10 years!! \u2026 given me lots of inspiration (and confidence) for all my future teaching.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Our Modular Professional Learning Framework (MPLF) is the flagship professional development program for educators at Sydney and has also been adapted for other tertiary institutions. <a href=\"https:\/\/educational-innovation.sydney.edu.au\/teaching@sydney\/from-one-size-fits-all-professional-learning-to-choose-your-own-adventure\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Created in 2019<\/a>, the MPLF offers you a \u2018choose your own adventure\u2019 learning experience through bite-sized two-hour modules on effective teaching practices, aligning to all activities of the Education Pillar of the Academic Excellence Framework (AEF). The program focuses on being flexible, accessible, and responsive to changing needs, and models evidence-based practice through face-to-face, online and hybrid delivery.<\/p>\n<p>Staff who complete any of the five pathways will have taken their first steps in writing a full application for fellowship (at the most relevant category: Associate Fellow to Senior Fellow) to Advance HE (formerly HEA), which they can submit to the Sydney Educational Fellowship Program for assessment as an optional, additional step beyond the Modular Professional Learning Framework.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/canvas.sydney.edu.au\/enroll\/MGEWBA\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Enrol in the MPLF Canvas site<\/a> for details of each module, including AEF alignment, and to register.<\/p>\n<div class=\"sc-separator type-thin\"><\/div>\n<h2>Graduate Certificate in Educational Studies (Higher Education)<\/h2>\n<p>Our Graduate Certificate in Educational Studies (Higher Education) is an accredited award bearing program (AQF 8), offered at no charge to domestic staff and affiliates engaged in teaching at Sydney. The course is designed to introduce you to current principles, practices, debates and research in higher education, and support you to develop scholarly, research-led approaches to teaching, and a critically reflective approach to your practice. By completing the Graduate Certificate in Educational Studies (Higher Education), you\u2019ll be invited to submit your final reflective statement to be assessed for Fellowship of Advance HE via our Sydney Educational Fellowship Program (SEFP).\u00a0Engagement on the Graduate Certificate provides evidence of professional development in the Education Pillar of the Academic Excellence Framework.<\/p>\n<p>Read about <a href=\"https:\/\/educational-innovation.sydney.edu.au\/teaching@sydney\/the-graduate-certificate-higher-education-accelerates-your-teaching-and-career\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">how the course can help your teaching and career<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sydney.edu.au\/courses\/courses\/pc\/graduate-certificate-in-educational-studies-higher-education.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">apply online<\/a>.<\/p>\n<div class=\"sc-separator type-thin\"><\/div>\n<h2>Sydney Professional Certificate (Foundations in Higher Education)<\/h2>\n<p>Our Sydney Professional Certificate (SPC) in Foundations in Higher Education is offered at no charge to domestic staff and affiliates engaged in teaching at Sydney. The course involves two of the four units from the Graduate Certificate in Educational Studies (Higher Education), undertaken over the course of a year. You can complete the Sydney Professional Certificate as a standalone course or use it as a pathway to the Graduate Certificate.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.sydney.edu.au\/courses\/courses\/pc\/sydney-professional-certificate-in-foundations-in-higher-education.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Apply online<\/a>.<\/p>\n<div class=\"sc-separator type-thin\"><\/div>\n<h2>Sydney Educational Fellowship Program<\/h2>\n<p>Our Sydney Educational Fellowship Program (SEFP) is a professional recognition scheme accredited through <a href=\"https:\/\/www.advance-he.ac.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Advance HE<\/a>. It provides support for academic and professional staff applying for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.advance-he.ac.uk\/fellowship\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Fellowships of Advance HE<\/a>. The scheme supports four levels of Fellowship:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Associate Fellow (AFHEA)<\/li>\n<li>Fellow (FHEA)<\/li>\n<li>Senior Fellow (SFHEA)<\/li>\n<li>Principal Fellow (PFHEA)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Each category of fellowship requires evidence of teaching and learning at a different standard. Use Advance <a href=\"https:\/\/www.advance-he.ac.uk\/form\/fellowship-decision-tool-2011\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">HE&#8217;s Fellowship Category Tool<\/a> to help you decide which category of fellowship is right for you.<\/p>\n<p>Applications for Associate Fellowship (AFHEA) to Senior Fellowship (SFHEA) are assessed internally through our SEFP, at no cost to staff. To get started, enrol in the <a href=\"https:\/\/canvas.sydney.edu.au\/enroll\/F9XXAM\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">SEFP Canvas site<\/a>, tour the resources there, and register for upcoming workshops.<\/p>\n<p>Other pathways to Fellowship application are to complete a pathway in our Modular Professional Learning Framework, or to complete our Graduate Certificate in Educational Studies (Higher Education).<\/p>\n<p>The Sydney Educational Fellowship Program documents evidence in support of the Education Leadership Pillar of the Academic Excellence Framework.<\/p>\n<div class=\"sc-separator type-thin\"><\/div>\n<h2>Educators Communities of Practice<\/h2>\n<p>The Educators Communities of Practice is a collaborative initiative between the Division of Teaching and Learning and the Provost\u2019s office. The CoP seeks to support educators who are in education-focused roles, through the development of a community. The CoP runs sessions, workshops and social events throughout the year focused on one of three themes: Theme 1 \u2013 Work and Classroom Practice, Theme 2 \u2013 Scholarship of Teaching and Learning and Theme 3 \u2013 Building your Career.<\/p>\n<p>Colleagues are welcome to join the Community and can sign up to the <a href=\"https:\/\/intranet.sydney.edu.au\/contacts-campuses\/services\/education-portfolio\/contact-us.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">mailing list<\/a>.<\/p>\n<div class=\"sc-separator type-thin\"><\/div>\n<h2>Peer review of teaching<\/h2>\n<p>The Peer Review for Teaching (PRT) program is a University-wide initiative facilitated by the DVC (Education) Portfolio that provides a supportive process for educators wanting to engage in constructive feedback conversations using an evidence-based, university-endorsed proforma and expert accredited reviewers.\u00a0Feedback from peer review and participation in delivery of peer review are recognized examples of evidence in the Academic Excellence Framework Education Pillar.<\/p>\n<p>Benefits:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Safe, confidential, and directed by you.
